Panjab University was Established in 1882 as the University of the Panjab Lahore (in Pakistan now), Panjab University was relocated in Chandigarh in the year 1947 as the East Panjab University after the partition of India, where the University was split between Pakistan and India. Panjab University has 188 affiliated colleges spread over Panjab, one rural regional centre at Kauni, and 3 regional centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur.
