CAT Registration 2023 Started

The registration for Common Aptitude Test - CAT 2023 has started from 5th Aug 2023. Students can apply online at iimcat.ac.in. CAT registration is a two-step process- Registration & Filling up of application form. The last date to submit CAT application form is 18th Sep 2023 till 5:00 p.m.

Along with registration form, there is a query form wherein students can raise the issues faced during application process.

Some Highlights

  • Application fee for CAT 2019 is INR 2000 for General category.
  • It is expected that the competition will rise this year, with an expectation of more than 2 lac registrants.
  • For CAT 2020, application form-correction window will open in Sep-23.

CAT exam is gateway to over 1200 MBA colleges in India. Every year, one of the 20 IIMs conducts the exam in over 150+ cities. CAT 2019 was conducted by IIM Kozhikode. CAT 2023 will be conducted by IIM Indore. Official notification for CAT 2023 was released on July 29. The exam is scheduled for 29th Nov 2023.

Process to Register for CAT Exam 2023

Pre-Requisites for CAT Registration

  •  Valid email address and mobile phone number
  • Marksheets of class X, XII, graduation and/or other equivalent exams.
  • Details of work experiences (if you have)
  • Preferred CAT Exam Center choices
  • Scanned images of photograph and signature
  • Scanned copy of category certificate (if any)
  • Bank details (debit card, credit card or net banking) for payment of application fee.

CAT 2020 Registration

  • Open the CAT 2023 website in a new window (iimcat.ac.in)
  • Click on New Candidate Registration
  • Enter name, date of birth, email ID, phone number and nationality
  • Click to generate OTP (one time password)
  • The OTP will be sent in your inbox
  • Verify your account by entering the OTP in the given field
  • Upon verification, the candidate will receive their CAT 2020 user ID and password

Filling up of CAT 2023 application form

  • Log on to the official CAT 2023 website using the user ID and password
  • Fill in relevant details in all six sections of the CAT form: personal details, academics, work experience, programmes, test city and payment
  • Upload scanned copies of passport sized photo and signature in the prescribed format and size
  • Review the CAT application form and click on submit to move to payment page

CAT Eligibility 2023 - Graduation Marks

General and Non-Creamy Layer-Other Backward Groups (NC-OBC):

  • The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a university or educational institution recognized by the Government of India.
  • The candidates must have scored minimum 50 per cent aggregate in graduation (or equivalent) in any stream
  • Candidates must be in their final year of graduation or awaiting result
  • Candidates must have professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWA with minimum 50 per cent aggregate

Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Benchmark Disability (PwD):

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories must have scored minimum 45 per cent aggregate in graduation (or equivalent) in any stream
  • Candidates must be in their final year of graduation or awaiting result
  • Candidates must have professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWA with minimum 45 per cent aggregate are also eligible to apply

CAT Eligibility 2023: Equivalent Degrees

  • In case the marking scheme of any candidate’s bachelor’s degree is in grades or CGPA, percentage of marks would be calculated on the basis of practice as followed by the respective University/Institution.
  • If any University/Institution confirms that they do not follow any scheme for converting CGPA into marks, the calculation will be done by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

Not Eligible to Apply for CAT 2023?

  • If the candidate has not scored 50 per cent in graduation (45 per cent for SC/ST/PwD candidates), then they are not eligible to apply for CAT.
  • Candidates who don’t have either a bachelor’s degree or any professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA, are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are not in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have not completed professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA are not eligible to apply.
  • If the candidates' bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is not recognized by UGC/AICTE/MHRD-Govt, they are not eligible to apply.
