About CLAT
The Common Law Admission Test – CLAT is a national level entrance exam for admissions to candidates in undergraduate-UG & postgraduate -PG law courses offered at NLUs and other colleges/ universities accepting exam scores.
Till 2018, the exam was conducted by NLUs on a rotational basis. However, from 2019 onwards it is being conducted by a permanent body formed by the universities i.e. The Consortium of NLUs. The consortium has it’s headquarter at NLSIU Bangalore and comprises:

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2020
The terms and conditions that the candidate has to fulfil for appearing in CLAT 2020, depending on whether the candidate is seeking admission to UG or PG law course, are covered by CLAT 2020 eligibility criteria.
Eligibility criteria for UG program:
· Qualifying exam: The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognised university or board.
· Marks in qualifying exam: A minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying degree is required to appear in CLAT 2020. SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.
· Age limit: There is no upper age limit.
· Others: Such candidates who are appearing in qualifying exam in March/April 2020 may also apply, subject to such candidates producing evidence of passing the qualifying exam at time of admission.
Eligibility criteria for PG program:
· Qualifying exam: The candidate must have passed LLB or equivalent exam from a recognised university.
· Marks in qualifying exam: A minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent is required for candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories. SC/ST candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in minimum marks.
· Age limit: There is no upper age limit.
· Others: Candidates appearing in qualifying exam in April/May 2020 may also apply.
Steps to fill CLAT application form
· Get registered by entering details like name, email id and mobile number
· Next fill in all relevant sections in the application form, including personal, academic and contact details.
· Upload scanned copies of signature, photograph and other documents in prescribed specification
· Finally pay the application fee and then submit the completed application form.
Exam pattern of CLAT 2020
· The CLAT 2020 exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode.
· Question paper for UG program will include 150 multiple-choice type (MCQs) questions. In the previous session there were 200 questions.
· UG paper won't include subjective questions.
· PG paper will however have two types of questions - objective (100 questions) and subjective (2 questions).
· Each objective type question will carry 1 mark, while for incorrect attempt 0.25 marks will be deducted.
· Meanwhile, the two subjective (in case of PG) questions will each carry 25 marks, for a combined total of 50 marks.
· Candidates will be given OMR sheets, where they have to enter their responses by circling the correct option (objective questions only).
